Elizabeth S. Ennis
Elizabeth S. Ennis is a costume designer and educator, currently residing in Pennsylvania. While studying theatre performance at American University, Elizabeth realized that her true passion was for the work that happens behind the scenes. Building on her experience as a seamstress and a visual artist, she pursued her career in costume design. After graduating from American, Elizabeth freelanced in the DC area as a designer, stitcher, and dresser, working with companies including Shakespeare Theater Company, Synetic Theater, WSC Avant Bard, and the Folger Shakespeare Library.
In 2015 Elizabeth relocated to Philadelphia to pursue her MFA in Costume Design at Temple University, where she designed five mainstage shows including her thesis production, Romeo and Juliet. Since graduating in 2018, she has worked for the theatre department at Susquehanna University, managing the costume shop, designing productions, and teaching courses in stage makeup, costume production, and costume design. She continues to freelance professionally in central Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and Washington DC.
Elizabeth is a 2019 Barrymore Award nominee in the category of Outstanding Costume Design for her work on Theatre Horizon's The Color Purple.
